Syndey After Dark

It’s 5:00 somewhere, according to Jimmy Buffet, so it’s time for a little fun. Aussies and visitors alike enjoy libations, fine dining, and entertainment along the way. In Sydney, the cabaret shows are popular offering an interesting twist to its French cousin and oftentimes, an evening at the Sydney Showboats, GPO Sydney, or The Magician’s Cabaret is in order. Sydney Showboats
Can 5 million patrons be wrong? During the past 27 years, Sydney Showboats has enchanted guests with a 3-hour cruise around Sydney’s famed harbor aboard a whimsical paddlewheeler, including a 3-course dinner rivaling the best harbor restaurants and a live cabaret show, currently “Vogue of Love.” Moulin Rouge-style showgirls in their extravagant sequined costumes, talented singers/dancers, and the comic magician “Mr. Showboat” entertain throughout the evening, beginning with greeting guests dockside then wishing them a farewell at departure.
The show is skillfully coordinated under the stewardship of Abby Robson, multitasking as entertainment director and dance captain, and also performing as a singer and dancer. If you can sing or dance, Robson is always looking for new talent.
Shopping at the farmer’s market in the early morning, the Executive Chef, Sunny Kim, and her staff choose the finest ingredients freshly prepared on board to create a memorable culinary experience.  Oh yes, the complimentary beverages may be limited in choice, but the champagne, beer and wine are excellent.
