Today we want to share tips on how to make your health a priority in 2023. If you’re making your health a priority this year, you aren’t alone. In fact, over 70% of Americans are more health-conscious now than they were pre-pandemic, meaning many are on the lookout for lifestyle changes they can implement to better their health. However, good-intentions aside, sticking to a healthy lifestyle isn’t always that straightforward. It requires a lot of work, focus, and determination. With that in mind, here are some simple ways in which you can make your health a priorty moving forward.
Get Active
Finding time in your schedule for regular exercise is a great way to better your health – both physical and mental. For example, it can help you with weight management or weight loss, alongside improving your body confidence. Furthermore, many studies have found that exercise is one of the most effective methods of stress reduction as it speeds up your body’s production of endorphins that make you feel good.
Ideally, you should aim to spend at least thirty minutes a day being active. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to break a sweat every day, it can be as simple as going for a walk during your lunchbreak.
Get your hearing checked
Despite the fact that hearing loss is incredibly common, only a small percentage of adults visit the audiologist each year. This is concerning due to the far-ranging impacts of hearing loss. For example, our hearing health affects our mental state, as struggles related to hearing loss could cause people to withdraw socially and isolate themselves from others.
As a result, you should schedule in a routine appointment with an audiologist sooner, rather than later. This way, they will be able to provide you with guidance on how you can protect your hearing health, or give you access to additional support should you need it. For example, if you are experiencing
profound hearing loss, they can talk you through the benefits of hearing aids.
Find ways to make healthy living fun
One of the biggest reasons why people fail in their ‘healthy living’ ventures is because they make it feel like a chore, rather than something to be celebrated. This means that as each day passes by, your enthusiasm dwindles. However, by finding ways to make healthy living fun, you can ensure you stay on track.
For example, you could try out a variety of lifestyle trends until you find one that works for you, as opposed to sticking to the same old routine. If you’re trying to focus more on exercise, find a workout buddy who will sweat alongside you. After all, this means you have someone to hold you accountable on the day’s you’d rather spend at home, and you can also offer each other words of support and encouragement.
However, you should also ensure that you do not understiamte the importance of taking a break. Let yourself indulge in ‘unhealthy’ foods from time to time, or sit back and watch a movie instead of going to the gym. These breaks are just as important as the work you’re doing, as they provide you with a sense of balance.
