Goodr, The Startup Known For Rerouting Food Waste, Launches Its Latest Community Market In Atlanta, GA, Which Includes A Free Grocery Store

Goodr Founder and CEO Jasmine Crowe-Houston has announced her food waste startup’s latest expansion in Atlanta, GA.

On May 8, 2024, Crowe-Houston shared about the launch of Goodr Community Market at iVillage @ MLK. The new market, which uses repurposed shipping containers for a variety of services, has a free grocery store that is set to serve 600 families each month for two years.

Goodr Community Market also features the Goodr Health Hub, a health clinic that provides free health screenings and services in partnership with Grady Health, American Heart Association of Georgia, and Morehouse College, School of Medicine; the iVillage Community Resource Hub in partnership with Wells Fargo that offers banking services and financial literacy; and the Feel Goodr Wellness Room, a space that offers meditation. Additionally, Eat Urban Fresh Atlanta will provide prepared meals at a low cost for families, and the market has a floral shop, beauty salon, and dessert shop — all owned by women.

“It took us 15 months but we did it!,” Crowe-Houston wrote in an Instagram post. “I have a lot of crazy good ideas to help people and I am so blessed when partners and my team join me to bring them to life.”

She continued, “I’m so excited on the impact that this will bring to Atlanta’s District 10 and for the work we continue to do at Goodr to innovate and find more ways to make sure that no one goes hungry!”

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Councilwoman Andrea Boone, and Vice-Chair Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman were among those in attendance at Goodr Community Market’s grand opening.

The market is another project that Crowe-Houston has crossed off her list of innovative ideas. As previously reported by AFROTECH™, in 2023, she unveiled Goodr’s mobile grocery store that was brought to life with the help of Amazon, Verizon, Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, Wellstar Health System, and Mailchimp. Crowe-Houston revealed that the mobile truck was over two years in the making.
