Interview with Nancy Diaz

Nancy Diaz recently released a new album—a Latin Fusion album, designed to help you have fun and enjoy life, not to mention dance at clubs! Her Latin Fusion album definitely highlights her Latin roots (her parents were Chilean and Spanish), though she is actually a Canadian-born native. Cliché sat down for an interview with Nancy Diaz to talk about her albums, lyrics, and what the future might have in store for her.

Cliché: For those of us who aren’t familiar with it, what is Latin Fusion?
Nancy Diaz: It’s a mix of pop and Latin music. Some of my tracks with a mix of club, fun, and romantic vibes include “V.I.P,” “Muevelo,” “Something About You,” and “Latin Lover,” to name a few. I also have a song called “DJ Remix,” by DJ V-Future. He won the international DJ remix competition in 2013 for remixing my song.

What was it like to work with Gaetano Lattanzi?
Great! He’s a talented, down-to-earth producer who loves what he does. We’ve been working together for about 4 years.
What is it like to remix/have one of your songs remixed?
It’s really cool to hear a DJ/producer produce a different spin on your music. “Summer Addiction” and “DJ” were remixed by several DJ’s.
What are some of the messages you convey through your songs?
A mix of positive, passion, hurt, love, and loving life messages. For instance, in “California Dreams,” the message is to be real and don’t get caught up with all the materialism. “Stutter” reflects unfaithful love, and “Something About You” is about passion.
What is it like to record Latin Fusion songs?
It was fun mixing my Latin roots into my English tracks. Gaetano did a great job on the guitar solos.
For those songs that seem to be in another language, is there a reliable site where we could get translations?
Yes, my website www.NancyDiaz.ca is updating.
What do you think the future has in store for you?
[I’m very] optimistic. I’m working on interesting new projects, like releasing my new music video “Tu Presencia” and producing new music video “DJ,” along with future shows.
Where would you like to be 5 years from now?
I’ll dream big: the Super Bowl.
What is your next project going to be?
I’m looking forward to working with Blare Media again on my “DJ” music video in May 2014.
