Academy award-winning director Spike Jonze, who also happens to be a dear friend of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O, recently teamed up with the precocious and adorable Elle Fanning to shoot a “music video” inspired by Karen O’s new album Crush Songs. The impromptu, lighthearted, and silly video, filmed at the New York Metropolitan Opera House during Fashion Week, is meant to be a surprise gift for Karen O to congratulate her on releasing her very first solo album.
“They are songs made so intimately and spontaneously alone in her bedroom a few years ago that they feel more like unguarded whispers from her heart than a traditionally produced album,” Spize Jonze said of the new album. And he’s right—the album, released mere days ago on iTunes, is filled with short and sweet romantic love ballads that are borderline lullabies. The song featured in the music video, “Ooo,” is the first track on the album, and it properly sets the mood for the remaining 14 songs.
Check out Spike Jonze’s video below and let us know what you think in the comments! You can also purchase Crush Songs now on iTunes for $9.99.
