Self Care Is Important
Self care is one of those things that we often hear people talk about but we don’t really think about. It’s easy to tell your friends and loved ones that they have got to take care of themselves, but when it comes to you this is a whole other story, right? Wrong. You deserve to look after yourself just as much as they do and we do not want you to forget it.
Everyone thinks that they are taking care of themselves just fine until they sit down and actually think through the things that they do for themselves. Taking a shower is not self care. Brushing your hair is not self care. Putting on clean pajamas is not self care. All of these things are super basic, hygiene and everyday things that we should be doing, but society has somehow told us that somehow this counts as self care. Well, it doesn’t. But, we’re going to be having a look at what does in this article. If you’re interested, you know what to do.
Create A Skin Care Routine
First on the list you are going to need to create a skin care routine. Now, we know that some people don’t really think too much about their skin, but you should be. Your skin has a massive impact on how you feel so it’s important that you are taking care of yourself starting right here. Even if it’s just a quick moisturizer in the morning and before bed, we guarantee that your face is going to feel more refreshed than it has in a long time. Of course it’s important that you at the very least wash your face before you do this to get rid of all of the dirt and grime from the day, otherwise it’s a bit pointless.
If you want to go a little further with this and you want to ensure that you are taking care of your skin to the best of your ability, you need to set yourself up a skincare routine. Some people do this in the morning, some people do this at night, it’s about what suits you best. You need to look up some inspiration, so do your research into different products and things like this to come up with the best routine for your skin.
What Are You Putting Into Your Body?
This is another thing that we don’t really think about when we are on the go all the time, but you need to slow down and think carefully about what you are putting into your body. Of course, the obvious place to start with this is going to be food and drink, right? We all know that the body needs certain things in order to be healthy and that it’s important that it gets it. If it doesn’t get what it needs, the human body starts to send signs, or if it’s getting too much of something then it will do the same. That’s why you have gotta be in tune with your body so that you are able to intercept the messages that it passes.
When you put things into your body that are bad for it, your body reacts as such. For example, there’s a reason that people who smoke cough more than those who don’t. That drunk feeling that some people enjoy? That’s your body saying no this is messing with me and how I function. As such, in order to practice self care, you really need to think about what you are putting into your body, and how you are treating it. Additionally, vaginal health has a great impact to your overall health so it is advised to take vaginal test regularly, check evvy.com for test kits.
Get Rid Of That Negative Energy
Negative energy is no good for your life. No matter what you think, or whether you believe in energies or not, negative energy is not something that you want to have around. It will leave you feeling low, it will leave you feeling drained, and you will generally not feel happy in your life. How can anyone think that this is good for them or that this is them taking care of themselves? If you are constantly feeling worn out, either by someone else or by yourself, then maybe it’s time to get some help.
Not everyone is going to be open to this, but you have got to find a way to get that negative energy out of your life. It’s sucking the soul out of you and you don’t even notice because you are so used to it. But, if you want to live your best life and care for yourself in the best possible way, you need to identify the source of the negative energy and get rid of it as soon as you can.
Learn To Say No
If you are someone who struggles with this, repeat after us: ‘no’. It’s such a simple two letter word, and yet it’s something that so many of us struggle to say on a regular basis for one reason or another. For some people it’s the fact that they don’t want to let anyone down. For others it’s the fear of confrontation if you say no, but neither of these are good enough reasons. If you do not want to do something, and you feel negatively about it, say no. It is not your responsibility to burn yourself out for the sake of other people. We do understand that when people ask for help you might want to say yes, and if this is the case, then do it.
The point that we want to drive home to you is that it is okay to say no. Not wanting to is a perfectly valid reason not to do something. Being tired and feeling like you’re approaching a burnout is a perfectly valid reason to say no. Just saying no without any justification is enough. Learn this, and you are taking care of yourself better than 90% of people right now.
Goodbye Toxic Relationships
Toxic relationships. They have become a massive talking point on social media. They have become romanticized in certain books that have become popular, but they are not something that you should aspire to have in your life. Toxic relationships are often dangerous, and you’re not looking after yourself and practicing self care if you are allowing yourself to be in these. It’s important that you know the signs of a toxic relationship so that you can look for them throughout your life.
Sometimes these come as romantic involvement, other times it’s your friends or family members. Toxic relationships can be with anyone, and in order to look after yourself, you need to cut out any that you may have in your life, trying to avoid them going forward.
Book A Spa Day
There are so many reasons that you could come up with as to why you couldn’t go on a spa day. You can’t really afford the expense, you don’t have time, you would feel awkward going by yourself and so on. But, imagine for a moment that you didn’t come up with an excuse and you just went and relaxed because you deserve some peace and relaxation in your life. How great would that be? Exactly, which is exactly why it’s something that you should do! Step out of your comfort zone a little and give yourself that little treat that you have been denying yourself up to now.
Book yourself a massage, a facial, a seaweed scrub or whatever it is that you want. Let yourself have this every now and then as a little treat to look after yourself. It’s good for your mental health, and it’s definitely good for you physically, so there are no downsides.
Take Breaks When You Need Them
Last but by no means least, you need to take breaks as and when you need them. It doesn’t matter if this means that you need to take more breaks than other people, you need to stop comparing yourself to them. You are your own person, and it’s time that you started listening to your body. We can promise you that you are going to feel so much better once you start doing this, taking breaks and avoiding those periods where you feel as though the world is ending and you’re going to drop down from exhaustion. There is nothing wrong with taking breaks, and you should never let anyone tell you otherwise.
To be completely honest with you, you should be doing all of these things anyway without us having to have said anything. We know that it can be tough to look after yourself sometimes, and we know that it’s not always easy to remember to take care of yourself amidst the chaos of your life. But, what we want you to understand is that it is super important that you do take care of yourself as much as you can, and that you are practicing self care on a regular basis. If you’re not, you need to change this up asap because you are worth it.
