Unhealthy Habits you Need to Break Immediately

Unhealthy Habits

Today we want to discuss unhealthy habits you need to break immediately.  Do you feel like your health isn’t the best that it could be? If so, now is the time for you to break that cycle. If you just have no idea where to start then this is the guide for you.

Not Drinking Enough

Not drinking enough water is a major mistake. Believe it or not, water accounts for over 60|% of your body, so if you’re not drinking enough then this can have a major impact on your health. Staying hydrated helps you to keep your memory sharp and it also helps to stabilize your mood. Keeping up with your fluids will also help your skin to stay supple while keeping your body cool. Your muscles and your joints will work better and you may also find that toxins are cleared from your kidneys too. So how much water do you need to drink? You need to make sure that you drink about 13 cups at a minimum, but a lot of this will depend on your physical needs.

Unhealthy Habits you Need to Break

Eating Late

There are a few reasons why you might want to have lunch earlier. Researchers have shown time and time again that if you have dinner late, and too close to your bedtime then this will impact how your food is digested. If you have GERD then you should not eat within 3 hours of going to bed. Sure, sometimes you may fall asleep on the sofa but at the end of the day, you do need to make sure that you are mindful of this as much as possible.

Not Working Out

You also need to make sure that you are getting enough exercise. Physical activity has so many health benefits and it’s impossible to name them all. Some of them, however, include strengthened bones, muscles and lung function. You can also greatly reduce the chances of developing depression or anxiety. It’s recommended that all adults get around 30 minutes of exercise, 5 days a week. If you cannot maintain this amount then start slow and then build it up. If you are progressive then you will be much more likely to stick with your routine, which is great, to say the least.

Not Feeding Your Brain

Ignoring your body is bad, but dismissing your mind’s need for engagement is equally damaging. Brain training and keeping sharp can take many forms. Chess and strategic games are a great way to do this in a relaxed environment. However, you should also look to grow your knowledge of subjects that you love through reading or activities that test your mind. This could extend to pushing yourself with a side hustle. You’ve heard the phrase “healthy body, healthy mind” but the inverse statement is equally true. Do not forget it.

Skimping on Sleep

Falling short of sleep is a big mistake. If you don’t get enough sleep then you may find that you end up compromising your immune system and that you are not able to make decisions as easily either. This can put you at an increased risk of stroke, obesity, depression and kidney disease. While there isn’t a magic number of hours you should be getting in terms of sleep, you should be aiming for 7-8 hours a night.

Eating too much Salt

90% of people eat more salt than they should. Restaurant food tends to be very high in salt, but the easiest way for you to stop this from impacting your health is simple. You just need to focus on cooking food at home yourself, because if you do then you will soon find that you can control how much salt you add, so you can stay within your allowance.

Drinking too Much

If you drink too much alcohol then this can have a major impact on your health. If you want to do something about this then one thing you can try is going sober until the weekend, and then see if you can avoid alcohol for the whole month. If you have a serious addiction or if you take drugs as well then this indicates that it is time for you to seek more help. It could be an idea for you to seek out a drug rehab that accepts Tricare, or that you simply talk with your doctor to see if they can give you some support. By doing this, you can then make sure that you get the help you need.

Eating at your Desk

Eating at your desk is another major mistake. It’s too easy for you to munch at your desk but according to research, this can lead to a higher body weight. This can put you at risk of a whole range of things. If you want to help yourself here then you need to make sure you sit down and eat properly. You also need to make sure that you enjoy eating your food because if you don’t then you may be inclined to snack later. Things like this can have a major impact on your health, so try and avoid them if possible.
