Michael DePaulo is no stranger to New York Fashion Week, and just this past Valentine’s Day, he premiered his Fall/Winter 2016 collection at Agora Gallery to a starry-eyed crowd. What can only be described as a modern-day Marie Antoinette theme, the new collection consists of elegant ball gowns and shimmering cocktail jumpsuits with geometric seaming and feathers, and a color palette that revolves around earthy tones and pops of red.
“For my Fall/Winter 2016 collection, I was captured by old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist and lightness,” DePaulo says. “I used a combination of intricate embroideries in contrast to sheer fabrics.”
And the combination is magical. One of the stand-out pieces of the collection is a modern black mikado and satin ball gown, which DePaulo describes as “timeless, with geometric seam detailing and a voluminous ball skirt.”
Although DePaulo specializes in evening wear, he also has an exclusive bridal line with Kleinfeld Bridal of Manhattan. His gowns are also available for sale at specialty stores nationwide, and through special order at Saks Fifth Avenue.
