Jenny Mendoza  plays Catherine in It’s You, Not Me

Cliché: Tell us about your character in a couple sentences.
Jenny Mendoza: She’s a controlling, self-centered, business-savvy bitch.

Have you ever played this role in your own personal dating life?
Definitely not that bitchy, but straight forward, yes. I like to get down to business and I want to know what the date wants from me.

What do you like/dislike about your character?
I like her straightforward questions and personality. She scared him off too soon and didn’t allow him to open up more about his career.

Tell us your most memorable experience while shooting this series.
Every time we “cut” I would lick the salt off the glass!

How did you come to be a part of this project?
I auditioned for it. I read the script and loved the bitchy character.

What was it  like working with your long time teacher wearing the director hat?
She is amazeballs. She breaks down the direction she wants you to take in an understandable manner.

How collaborative or how much freedom did you have to “play” or improvise on set?
I had freedom to put my own bitchy attitude twists, like holding up my finger to get him to wait while I wrapped up what I was doing on my Blackberry.

What was the funnest part of shooting this episode?
The end, when he leaves her there and she says, “How do you know that’s the right percent?” She’s still stuck in her controlling ways.
