Ed Letter: April/May 2015

Table of Contents

I’ll be honest: I’ve been looking forward to April for months, and it’s not because I love the warmer weather after a long winter or the colorful blooms (but I do). I’ve been looking forward to April since last May when (Mad Men spoilers ahead!) Bert Cooper’s ghost tap-danced his way out of the Mad Men cast forever. Now that the last episodes are finally here (what a long and grueling wait that was, AMC!), my excitement has been replaced with sadness—like the depressed, watching old episodes on repeat and crying kind of sadness. AMC is marketing the end of Mad Men as “the end of an era,” and they are right on so many levels. Whether you are a fan or not, there’s no denying that Mad Men has redefined what is expected of television dramas forever, and I’m already feeling the absence of its profound characters and brilliant symbolism in my life.

If there is one thing we appreciate here at Cliché, it’s great acting—just ask our Entertainment Director, Anjelica, who lists her current favorite TV shows in her column this month on pg. 58. The cast of Mad Men has this nailed down to a T, but so do many of the actors and actresses we interview each month. From action-packed, passionate scenes in shows like Arrow (pg. 56) and Texas Rising (pg. 67), we were more than impressed with the talent we chatted with this issue, and we’re sure you’ll be, too. If you currently don’t have a television show you are obsessed with, trust us: you will find one in these pages. Why not start by checking out our cover girls Agnes Bruckner in A&E’s The Returned (pg. 70) and Brianne Howey in Comedy Central’s I Live With Models (pg. 76)?

April also means one thing in the fashion industry: spring and summer collections! After watching models strut to and fro last fall in gorgeous maxi dresses, lacy tops, and bohemian pieces, we can finally get our hands on these collections and add them to our closets! What are some collections I’m currently obsessing over? Well, Ann Taylor and Betina Lou’s S/S collections, of course! Check out our favorite looks on pg. 34 and 38, respectively. Believe me: it’s a fashion editor’s dream.

I hope you enjoy the issue, and the warmer weather!
