United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson Fatally Shot in Apparent Targeted New York City Attack
Authorities have made another discovery in the shooting of United Healthcare’s CEO.
After Brian Thompson was fatally shot in New York Dec. 4, police say there were words written on the gun shell casings.
A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department briefed on the investigation told NBC News Dec. 5 that the suspect they believe shot 50-year-old Thompson wrote words including “deny,” “defend,” and “depose,” on the shotgun shells.
The discovery comes after Thompson’s wife, Paulette Thompson, told NBC News that her husband had been receiving “threats.”
“Yes, there had been some,” she told NBC News. “I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”
Still, Thompson’s wife—who shared two sons with the late CEO—was unable to provide more information amid the onset of grieving her husband.
“I can’t really give a thoughtful response right now,” she added. “I just found this out and I’m trying to console my children.”
