According to E! Online, on Thursday, co-stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort recreated the bench scene from their film The Fault in Our Stars in honor of the bench’s new location.

You may recognize the bench from the official movie posters that promoted the film prior to its release. Or, if you’ve seen the movie, (spoilers!) you’ll know that during the film, Hazel, played by Woodley, and Augustus, played by Elgort, sit on this bench on their last day of their romantic European trip. While they sit, Augustus tells Hazel the news that his cancer is back.
The bench, which, in the film, was located in Amsterdam, now features a small plaque in honor of fans of the movie. The bench also now has a new home: Los Angeles, California! It will the now “live” under a tree at the 20th Century Fox studio lot.
To celebrate the bench’s new home, Woodley, Elgort, and even The Fault in Our Stars author John Green were present for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Green stated, “I remember being in Amsterdam finishing the book. I sat a lot on those benches near the canals, thinking about the story.” He said, “I remember seeing Shailene and Ansel sitting on that bench in the filming, and thinking how it had all come full circle. But I never thought I’d see that bench near murals of The Simpsons and Star Wars.”
As to how fans would now get to visit the bench, Green stated, “I guess they are going to have to sneak onto the Fox lot.”
Hopefully, The Fault in Our Stars fans won’t get into too much trouble.
