Remember the other Shondaland lady that I mentioned earlier? Kerry Washington’s character, Olivia Pope, is that lady. Olivia Pope is a high-powered fixer for some of the most well-known politicians. This includes the president, who, coincidentally she is having an affair with. Scandal is a sure-fire hit, making Shonda Rhimes a contributor to three hit TV shows, all airing back-to-back on Thursday nights. When Scandal premiered in 2012, it was groundbreaking and innovative. In 2012, Washington was the first African-American woman to have a lead in a primetime TV show in almost 40 years.
The best part about the show, is that every single week, the stories get better and the characters’ storylines intertwine into an even bigger mystery. For instance, Olivia’s father, Rowan, is an evil mastermind. Even after he was briefly dethroned from his seat as the head of B16, a secret section of the CIA. he was still calling the shots and demanding that his men kill anyone in his way. If you’re looking for love, drama, and excitement, then this is the show for you! The show premiered on January 29th.
Scandal airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
