Amanda Bynes Was Arrested For Driving Under the Influence

Say it isn’t so! Amanda Bynes was arrested for driving under the influence at 3 a.m. this past Sunday.

According to E! News, Bynes was driving down Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks, CA and came to a red traffic light. While the What I Like About You actress did stop for the light, she stopped too late: Bynes reportedly stopped in the middle of the intersection.

After being stopped by police, she was “given a series of field sobriety tests, which she was unable to complete.”

Bynes then was taken to the CPH West Valley Office and given a drug evaluation test, which “determined she was under the influence of a controlled substance,” though the particular substance is unknown.

Bynes was held at the Van Nuys, California police station on a $15,000 bail before being released later that day at 12:44 p.m. She now has to appear in court on October 23.

This news comes as a surprise to Bynes’ dedicated fans who thought that the actress, perhaps best known for her work as a child and teenager on Nickelodeon TV shows, was over her troubled days. After strange outbursts and actions, including rude Twitter posts and several arrests, and following her detainment on a psychiatric hold–due to her setting a fire in a neighbor’s driveway–Bynes had undergone treatment at a hospital and rehabilitation center. She appeared to be doing better, even enrolling at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

Given that Bynes was already on three-years’ probation for a prior DUI arrest in 2012, this arrest could mean big trouble for the starlet.

Hopefully, Amanda will soon get the help she needs to stay sober.
