When it comes to planning your wedding, it is one of the most exciting things that you can do. A wedding is so special and there is so much joy in picking the venue, choosing your flowers, trying on wedding dresses, tasting your wedding menu, picking your rings and then where you go on your honeymoon – this is most likely going to be the best breakaway that you will ever go on.
The best thing to do when planning your wedding is to create a spreadsheet and list out all the jobs that need ticking off before the big day and alongside these jobs, have a budgeting column so you can keep track of the costs – weddings are expensive and the costs will add up, very quickly.
To help you get started, we have put together a list of three considerations when planning your wedding.
Choosing a photographer
One of the biggest considerations you will have is choosing a photographer for your big day. The job of your photographer is to capture all the best moments of your wedding, but without you even knowing they are there – perfect if you are camera shy. When choosing, it’s important you see their portfolios as this will show the style of photos that they take, for example, they may be a documentary wedding photographer. It’s also important that you get multiple quotes as pricing can vary hugely.
Choosing your wedding flowers
Wedding flowers are very important as they help set the scene of your wedding, however, it is easy to go overboard on flowers and get carried away when choosing. Wedding flowers are expensive, so when picking, it’s important you reach out to the right florist as they will be able to pick something that matches your vision for your wedding. If you are after inspiration on wedding flowers, Pinterest is always a great place to look as many people post examples of how they did their wedding.
Picking a venue
Arguably one of the most important considerations, if not the most important consideration is the venue. When picking a venue, you need to visit, to get a good idea of what it actually looks like, pictures can tell a million stories. You’ll need to decide if you want a venue that is local to you, so that more people come, or if you want one further afield, such as abroad. Abroad weddings can be cheaper, depending on where you are based – you should see some of the places celebrities get married!
We hope our guide has given you a good start to your wedding planning and on things you should consider doing. The sooner you start planning the less stressful the planning phase will be.
