How Kordell Beckham Leveraged ‘Love Island USA’ To Land Multiple Partnerships And Achieve His Long-Term Goals

Authenticity has remained Kordell Beckham’s superpower beyond the villa.

Beckham and his girlfriend, Serena Page, were crowned the Season 6 champions of Peacock’s “Love Island USA,” which had become the most-watched series on streaming platforms in the U.S. ahead of the season finale in July 2024, per NBC Universal. Beckham and Page also made history as the first Black couple to win on the show, The Hilltop mentions.

Investing Cash Prize

The couple — who now have 7 million followers combined across their TikTok and Instagram accounts — earned a $100,000 cash prize on the show, which they split evenly, according to US Weekly. Beckham has decided to be wise with a portion of his earnings going toward investments, and this will include the launch of his own clothing brand now in the works with his team.

“We’ve been talking with a bunch of businesses to see what we can do to jumpstart a clothing brand, because it’s been asked from a lot of people, and they want me to create my own type of style and clothing,” Beckham told AFROTECH™ in an interview. “So that’s been in the works. So that’s where that investment is going towards, as well as living and everything else.”

Fans could see items that will reflect Beckham’s signature style while being able to add their own flare.

“So that’s why I was like, ‘Okay, so boom, this could be a great investment if I was to start my own clothing brand.’ And, kind of giving the people (what) I will usually wear, they can have access to that as well. So they can kind of mix it and match it in their own type of style. But yeah, it’s a lot of other investments, a lot of other investments,” Beckham revealed.

Partnerships

Since leaving the Love Island villa, Beckham has shown a business-forward mindset, which has been empowered by already hiring a management and social media team prior to entering the villa.

“It’s just pretty much going back to where we was, but it’s a lot more opportunities than it was. We have a whole management team, have a social media team. We work all of our things. We have it on our spreadsheet. So we have everything in order, from day to day to time to time, earnings, all of that. So yeah, shout out to my team. Wouldn’t have been possible without them, because doing this by yourself is —  that’s worse than a 9-to-5,” he said.

Some of Beckham’s recent partnerships include Cheez-It, which was a long-held dream he revealed while on “Love Island USA,” as AFROTECH™  previously reported.

He has also secured partnerships with GNC, Dunkin’ Donuts, Snickers, Pattern Beauty, NYX Cosmetics, and Spotify. His aim is to work with companies that can lead to long-term or lifetime partnerships.

“Wow I work when I want to partner with someone. I don’t want to just do that one-time partnership. I want to build something,” he expressed. “I really want to build a bond with these companies. So we can talk about making new things, or creating other businesses. We can go off from other events or new flavors, if you catch my drift. Things that we can work together on and that will be best for the company, and not just like for my personal gain, but for both of our personal gains — to create something and have that partnership long-term.”

What’s more, not only is Beckham excelling on his own turf but he’s also teaming up with Page for brand deals, which could soon include a rideshare company.

“I got my things that’s going on, but I really get a kick out of seeing other people’s lives change and other things that they have going on where it’s greatness for them, and that just makes me smile,” Beckham explained. “Especially, like my girl. She got something going on, I love it. Every time she’ll tell me, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, you should do that.’ Supportive… When she getting that bread, that’s all I love. I like that, seeing that smile on her face, just her happy life change and everything is different.”

Helping Others Win In Love

In a new season in life, thanks to his time in the villa and beyond, Beckham is now working to help others win in love too with the help of the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), widely known for the “got milk?” brand. In their collaboration, couples will have a chance to purchase free milkshakes at Mel’s Drive-In in West Hollywood, CA, until Oct. 31, 2024, and also purchase exclusive menu items and co-branded merch.

To kick off the festivities, Beckham hosted an VIP invite-only speed-dating and morning jammies-themed event at Mel’s Drive-in on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in line with the “Real Matches Are Back” theme.

“I’m keeping a villa spirit alive with this partnership, but I kind of like being there to show people that there can be something that can happen in real life, matching and dating, and like you don’t have to pass it up,” he detailed. “You don’t have to be on your phone to find someone, like you can actually do this in person,” Beckham mentioned. “I used to do it back in the day… It’s kind of bringing that all back. Obviously, the California Milk Processor Board, who created got milk?, will be kicking off the Campaign for Real Matches Are Back, which I’ve been invited to start off, which is amazing.”

He added, “And it’s going to be like 50-plus singles, and they all signed up to participate. I’m excited to start it off with them and give my experience, and try to give what I know and what I’ve learned from ‘Love Island,” and share that with them so they can utilize it.”

What’s Ahead

As opportunities for Beckham continue to grow, he shared what’s next on his horizon: the launch of his own YouTube channel. Fans can look forward to daily vlogs and his foray into gaming and streaming.

“Social media, obviously, is the key to everything right now, especially in this day and age if you really want to make a name for yourself or really want to progress in any business that you have going on,” he said. “I’m actually starting YouTube so I can push more content. I do TikTok or whatever. Only thing I do on TikTok is I’m probably going to do something funny or some dancing, or some meme stuff… and I want to do more vlogging, and probably me streaming a little bit, playing a game, because it’s been like things asked from a few of my supporters that they would like to see, and I would like to give that to them. So a day in the life, me playing a game, me doing like different activities, all of that.”

Advice To Creators

Offering advice for others looking to leverage social media to build their brand and land opportunities, Beckham doubles down on the importance of remaining true to yourself.

“I’ll say for other creators, ‘Hey, man, keep it real. Be you like 100% throughout the whole way.’ That’s what people would love to see,” he assured. “Don’t switch it up or code it. Have certain content that you stick with. You can find something new always, but stick with it. Go for it. See it through. It’s discipline… You should always stay true to yourself. Speaking from experience, that’s how me and everybody else got to where we are now, because we’re being 100% ourselves. We don’t got to switch it up for nobody.”
