Following his success with the legendary Hip-Hop group Public Enemy, Flavor Flav gained even more fame on television.

Beginning with the reality TV shows “The Surreal Life” and “Strange Love,” Flavor Flav went on to star in his own series titled “Flavor of Love,” which aired on the VH1 network from 2006 to 2008, according to IMDb.

Now, almost two decades later, Flavor Flav is making his way back to reality TV. However, this go around isn’t to find love — it’s to cross off an educational milestone.

During an interview with TMZ, Flavor Flav revealed that he has an upcoming show focusing on him earning his high school diploma.

“I’m going back to high school to get my diploma,” Flavor Flav told TMZ. “That’s what my show is going to be about. Flavor Flav goes back to high school.”

He added, “And I’m getting it for real. Not a GED, bro, I want my diploma.”

While Flavor Flav is aware that high school has completely changed since adolescence, he is adamant about staying the course.

“If I want that diploma, it’s something that I got no choice but to adapt to,” he said to the outlet.

A reality TV show about Flavor Flav’s completion of his high school education has been over a decade in the making. In 2011, ABC13, an affiliate of ABC in Houston, TX, reported that Flavor Flav, who dropped out of high school in 10th grade, pitched the idea for the show to a high school in Iowa.

In an interview with Believer Magazine in 2023, Flavor Flav recalled getting into trouble in high school, which eventually led him to drop out.

“It was because I was the Dennis the Menace of the society,” he shared, according to the outlet. “Not just of the school, but of the society. I ain’t gonna lie, I was a very mischievous kid. But that’s all just part of growing up and stuff and, you know, peer pressure. Sometimes, you hang out with the wrong crowd because you want to be the talk of the town. You want to be the man, you want to be the—the one everybody’s talking about. I was more of a follower than a leader, but yet I still was a leader because I did have people following me.”

Now, at 65 years old, Flavor Flav is marching to the beat of his own drum and pursuing education.
