Cliché: What are your top beauty/style routines?
Leslie Musser: I can’t say I have any real fashion routine since I tend to dress depending on my mood, but I am adamant about certain beauty regimens. The cardinal rule I never let myself break is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. The key to any makeup application or natural beauty is a hydrated complexion. Even oilier skin types require the right balance of application so that the skin won’t overproduce oils. Adding three minutes to your morning wash routine will create an ideal glow for the rest of your day.

Name the top three products you couldn’t live without this season.
Summer is all about a fresh face and effortless look. To keep my skin healthy and young, I make sure to always use a face lotion with SPF. For long days in the sun, I’m currently loving Alba Botanica Coconut Oil Sunscreen. It’s non-greasy and keeps my skin soft. For the beauty side, I can’t leave the house without dabbing on some RMS Beauty Luminizer and Anastasia Eyebrow Pencil. I lighten up on mascara and eye shadow, but make sure to highlight my face (particularly eyes) with darker brows and contoured sheen.

How do you keep your skin looking and feeling cool during the summer?
I used to want to bake in the sun for hours, pleading with the rays to tan and not burn my pale skin. But those habits have changed and I am now very careful of my complexion. Three products give me that cool effortless look, ideal for summer. I start with Artistry Moisturizing face lotion with 15 SPF. I then prep my face with Smashbox Photo Finish primer—it creates a lovely base for long-lasting, smooth skin. Finally, for a lightweight foundation, I have been adoring L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder. It eliminates shine, evens skin tone, and never cakes. These three help me go “au natural” in summer beauty.

Are there any staple items that you think are summer must-haves?
Right at the start of spring, I scooped up distressed Paige Denim shorts. They are my absolute warm-weather favorite; the first time I put them on, I felt like I’d worn them forever. A good investment would be a piece that is simple and pairs well with multiple outfits. I’ve also had fun sporting retro cat-eye sunglasses. The look is hot for summer and gives a bit of spunk to my wardrobe! Finally, rompers are everywhere! Whether it’s a cute floral daytime look or a sexy black nighttime number, all the fashionistas are making an appearance in one.
