Rising British folk-pop artist MABES unveiled her wonderful EP Keeping the Noise Down and new single “Might As Well” via The Other Songs / Amuse this past May. Today, she shares the whimsical visual medley for the EP and talks further with American Songwriter on how the four song EP transformed into one collective piece of art representative of her teenage years.
The new EP, Keeping the Noise Down, was written partly in Nashville last year. It is a pure reflection of her interest in Americana and folk music as well as a nod to the community she fell in love with during her time there. Each song on the EP includes emotional lyrics that have roots in folk sensibilities but bring the warmth of pure honesty.
While discussing her EP, MABES says, “I realized I wanted to create something abstract and thought-provoking that would be digested like one piece of art or a short movie. I wanted each song to represent part of me through my teenage years but all link to each other as a body of work, a ‘fly on the wall’ view into my world.”
