Men’s Fashion Week officially launched in New York City in July thanks to The Council of Fashion Designers of America. With designers focusing their collections strictly on men’s fashion, the three-day event was a little pre-game of the chaos of the week long schedule of shows in September.
I attended the Theory Men’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection at their location in the Meatpacking District and it was #rooftopchill. With the view of the Freedom Tower and guests sipping on drinks from one of the two bars, the space was perfect for a breezy July evening. Eighteen models stood in pairs on top of white cube fixtures and scaffolding, drinking Stella and casually chatting while posing for photos. The collection, with both male and female models, focused on minimalistic and classic menswear: the button down shirt and trousers. With different versions of the solid button down dress shirt including long sleeve and short sleeved, visible button closures and hidden button closures, they were each paired with blazers and either trouser pants or shorts. The Theory Collection stayed true to their modern and traditional designs.
