Tatiana’s Column: Fringe Feels

Black Crochet Design Fringe Bandeau Top, $19.99, Amiclubwear.com
Hi, darlings! I hope you all are having a wonderful summer full of adventure and great memories! Whether it was going to the beach for the weekend or a quick 10-minute walk to the coffee shop, I’ve made it a priority to spend as much time outside as possible, taking advantage of each sunny day. I hope the hot weather lingers into the fall since we all know how brutal East Coast winters can be. Here’s the bright side: at least we’ll have fringe detailing making its way from bathing suits and kimonos to fall and winter wear!
Fringe used to be completely not my style, but it has grown on me during the past few months. I consider fringe somewhat of a “hippie” look, along with florals, aztec prints, and shades of cognac/tan. It’s not that I don’t wear any type of floral or aztec prints, I just need to wear those patterns with something black to tone it down and still make it a “me” outfit. If I don’t have anything black on, I feel strange and not myself. For example, if I’m wearing a colorful dress or outfit and a pair of black shoes doesn’t go well, which is very rare, I at least need to have a shiny black manicure or a dark shade of lipstick on. Therefore, if I’m wearing fringe, it must have an edgy and badass look, not an earthy one.
Black Faux Leather Asymmetrical Hem Skirt, $29.99, Amiclubwear.com
Fringe detailing is playful and shows a bit of skin, while keeping you covered. I found great fringe pieces that fit my aesthetic of rock ‘n’ roll edge. Ami Clubwear carries a black crochet bandeau with slight fringe that looks great when worn with a high-waisted skirt; it shows just the right amount of skin without looking over-exposed. The online store also carries an asymmetrical pleather skirt with fringe at the hem that dances as you walk. I love leather jackets, and Blank NYC makes a leather fringe jacket that will have you embracing your inner rock star. And how gorgeous is the Fendi dress? I love the color scheme and how the belt accentuates the waist of the structured, yet movable garment. These pieces will have you feeling like a rock star in no time!
XOXO,
Tatiana
