Today we want to share tips on how to make an impression with the perfect first date dress. First dates can be a high-pressure situation. Why you are struggling not to do anything strange, your date is worried about knocking over a water glass. One way to soothe your frazzled nerves so that you can enjoy the date is wearing an outfit that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Choosing what to wear on a first date is not terribly difficult – stick with basic date dresses and accessories – but it might require a shopping expedition.  Here are some solid looks that are sure to make a good impression.

Kimono-Inspired Dress
Kimono-inspired dresses, with their flattering, flowing style and built-in belt are popular for lots of good reasons. They are great on all types of figures and come in various lengths. For a first date, keep it simple with a dress that’s not too full and that has a nicely structured belt. Longer kimono dresses are perfect for elegant evening dates.

Colorful Patterns
Because you don’t necessarily know where a day date could take you, it’s best to be prepared. A knee-length, patchwork patterned dress is safer than anything shorter, just in case you end up horseback riding. Be sure to pair it with a denim or black leather jacket for an extra punch of style.

Regardless whether you go full length or midi, maxi skirts are flowing and elegant and go perfectly with flats. For a first-date trip to the zoo, you’ll need comfortable footwear and a skirt that’s got you covered. Choose a subtle stripe or bandana-inspired pattern and top it with a belted blouse.

Tank Dress
If you are proud of your killer arms, nothing shows them off better than a sweet, simple tank dress. Choose one with a subdued pattern and at knee length or longer. When it gets cold in the evening, pair the tank with a soft cardigan or dramatic wrap.

Little Black Dress
The LBD can be a safe bet – if you know for sure where the date will be happening. You don’t want to wear one for an ice-skating date, but it is perfect for dinner at a trendy new restaurant. You can always dress an LBD up or down, just bring some accessories in your purse to fit the ambiance of the place.
Dressing for a first date isn’t rocket science, but it does take some forethought. Wearing a dress style that makes you confident and comfortable can go a long way toward your enjoyment of the date. Plus, you can focus on your partner instead of your clothes.
