Cliché: Tell us about your character in a couple of sentences.
Nicole Travolta: I think the best way to describe Sara is every man’s worst nightmare. You will never know what to expect from her. Perhaps she’s slightly bipolar?
Have you ever played this role in your own personal dating life?
I am thankfully nothing like Sara, except once a month for five or seven days, but that’s totally acceptable.
What do you like/dislike about your character?
I love that she has such an outrageous personality. She was certainly fun to play. Dislikes? I would say I’m not crazy about how crazy she is; I probably wouldn’t be able to put up with her in real life, but playing someone like her is too much fun.
Tell us about your most memorable experience while shooting this series.
I loved getting to work with people that I know and love so much. I think that’s rare.
How did you come to be a part of this project?
I was in Lauren Patrice Nadler’s class and she asked me if I would come on and play the role of Sara. I think I said yes before I even knew what the role was.
What was it like working with your longtime teacher wearing the director hat?
It was great. Lauren was able to work with us so easily because she knows our strengths and how to get us to our best places as actors. It was just a lot of fun watching her get to do what she loves, and of course being a part of it all.
How collaborative or how much freedom did you have to “play” or improvise on the set?
I feel like we got to play around quite a bit, trying different things, different ideas. It was very relaxed.
What was the funnest part of shooting this episode?
Getting to play someone who was so out there and different from who I am as a person. And of course working with friends!
How has your character grown or evolved from the previous episode, if she has?
It’s just hilarious. Period.
