Kanye “Ye” West has found a buyer for his beachfront Malibu house that he essentially gutted and abandoned.

The Hollywood Reporter learned on Saturday that the home, exclusively listed by Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group, is in escrow.

The sale comes more than six months after the controversial rapper and designer first listed the property in December 2023 in an off-market deal. He initially listed it for $53 million and later dropped the price to $39 million in April.

After purchasing the home, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Tadao Ando, in late 2021 for $57.3 million, West proceeded to remove all of the home’s interiors. Oppenheim previously said the new owner would need to spend several million dollars to redo the inside.

“What’s missing are the interiors,” the Selling Sunset star said at the time. “It’s priced to reflect the need for the interior finishes to be replaced. On the positive, it can be brought up to 2024 standards — it was built about 10 years ago.”

However, Oppenheim noted that the concrete exterior remains intact: “The architectural integrity of Tadao Ando’s work exists today. He’s largely known for his concrete work and the significant cost of this house is in the concrete work.”

The home has also faced other obstacles. Before the property was listed, West was sued by contractor Tony Saxon who worked on the home’s gut renovation. He claimed that the performer owed him more than $1 million for his work, among other allegations.

West denied the claims made in the suit, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported that the house was being put on the market.

Then in January, Ron Zambrano, a partner at West Coast Employment Lawyers, filed a mechanics lien on the property on behalf of Saxon. “We just want to make sure he has enough money to pay the more than $1 million he still owes our client before he goes completely broke,” Zambrano said in a statement at the time. “So in this case, if someone wants to buy Kanye’s Malibu home, they’ll have to deal with us first. That sale cannot happen without Tony being paid.”

The four-bedroom beachfront house on Malibu Road boasts Pacific Ocean views from every room. The about 4,000-square-foot house also features 1,500 square feet of exterior decks.
