Dancing was the blueprint for TikTok sensation Michael Le. The pathway to his self discovery was paved with choreography. “I would say that it’s a massive part of who I am and why I am the way that I am,” he muses. “Dancing allows me to be able to express myself in a way that no other art form allows me to express myself. It’s opened me up to an entire world of dancers and individuals that inspire me to want to understand myself better and it’s given me a lot more confidence. I think that when you’re talented at something and work hard at something, your confidence really shines through.” His content expanded his mind to a new artistic dimension. Innovation is a necessity. “I definitely believe content creation has opened me up because you have to literally look at yourself 24/7, analyze every frame, analyze every shot, every video, to see what works, what doesn’t work, what you can try creatively, what you can’t try creatively. It’s all up to you, and you have to constantly learn, constantly adapt, and constantly evolve. It has opened me up to new possibilities.” Michael’s family is the nucleus of his success. You can always count on your loved ones to have your best intentions at heart. “It’s been amazing to not only be able to give my family an opportunity, but to also work with them, and allow them to be a part of my journey. I feel like it’s created a deep bond between us as a family. It’s super important to have that core support system to keep you grounded and aware of who is taking advantage of you vs. who is genuinely there for you, because family will always have your back.”
Being an AAPI creator means everything to Michael. He wants to be an aspirational figure. “It’s amazing to be able to represent the AAPI community and show that someone like me has what it takes to succeed in this field. I hope to show people that anything is possible if you work hard enough and never give up.” Other marginalized creators can find in Michael a source of endless motivation to pursue their dreams. Posting one video may be the beginning of something life-changing. “I hope to inspire people by creating the best content I possibly can. I genuinely want to ‘wow’ people that come across my videos and inspire them to do what they love. I think that being able to tell stories, emotionally connect, and impact people on social media is such an amazing gift and I feel incredibly lucky to have this opportunity.” Still, he remains humble and knows that it takes a coalition to make a star. “I would say my friends, teachers, mentors, other social media creators, and honestly, the internet. I feel like a lot of people don’t realize the opportunities and information available at their fingertips. The internet’s an incredible tool with a ton of value. College classes are available for free. You can listen to audiobooks and watch videos of some of the most successful people in the world as they share their stories and expertise. It’s important to take advantage of all the resources available online.” It’s just the beginning of his artistic reign. The only thing that can stop him is the limits of his own imagination. “I plan to expand by continuing to create dope stuff that I really love. I plan to creatively push myself to see if I can create content that has never been done before and grow from there. I honestly just want to keep doing that…rinse, repeat, and expand. I believe that time will show what I have to offer.” His fancy footwork will ensure that his next step forward is even more mind blowing.
