Remember that article in PORTER magazine’s fall issue? The interview with Martha Stewart in her Bedford, New York home? Well if you don’t, in the article, titled “Come to Martha,” the Queen of DIY throws some shade at actress and founder of the lifestyle website Goop. About the Iron Man star, Stewart says, “She just needs to be quiet–she’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
Ouch.
Well, finally Gwyneth Paltrow responds to Martha Stewart’s diss.
Paltrow reacted to the dig this evening at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit. According to EOnline, Paltrow joked, “No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated. I’ll try to recover.”
But the award-winning actress admitted to being flattered by Stewart’s words. She said, “If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition.”
Paltrow’s response comes after a new development in her business and website, Goop. The former president and CEO of Martha Stewart Living, Lisa Gersh, recently joined Goop as its new CEO.
On Gersh, Paltrow added, “She’s the perfect person to build on the momentum we have and to diversify our opportunities to bring Goop’s positive energy directly to consumers in what they read, what they try, what they buy and how they live.”
So is Paltrow making a statement to Stewart by hiring her former top dog?
We can’t wait to see how Stewart retaliates!
