Top 10 Street Art Installments to Visit this Summer

Table of Contents

Summer is here, which can mean one of two things: 1) you are stoked to finally go outside and enjoy the weather after a long, harsh winter, or 2) you, like me, are going to continue to be an anti-social hermit watching Netflix with a bottle of wine for the next three months. The latter of you can leave this post now because it is in total regards to the adventurous, outdoorsy, travel-type who actually enjoy social situations and fresh air. Now that I’m speaking directly to my intended audience, I’d like to give you guys my own personal, inexperienced and unprofessional opinion of the top 10 street art attractions you should go see during your travels or lollygagging adventures this summer because disregarding obscene or juvenile vandalism, street art is very cool.

Of the occasional times that I’ve been unwillingly ripped from my home to walk the streets of New York City or Philadelphia, I’ve found that besides pollution (and lots of it), there are grand, articulate, comical, and sometimes even political art installments covering the city walls. Am I the only one that finds this interesting? I hope not. As an art enthusiast myself, I totally encourage you to go to museums as often as you can, but realistically, not everyone wants to. Sometimes there’s a fee you don’t want to pay, sometimes the hours do not coincide with your schedule, and sometimes pretending to understand modern art with the rest of the pretentious crowd is not your idea of “fun.” I can relate all too well, which is why I think it’s great that just about anyone, art fans or not, on an afternoon stroll can catch a piece by the likes of, say, Banksy, that will not only be visually stimulating but even thought-provoking. Okay, I’ll stop now, if I haven’t convinced you to get out and enjoy man-made beauty, then I hope my list of 10 art installments worthy of your attention is that kick you need.
