4 Pieces to Help You Transition from Spring to Summer

It’s no secret that the transitional period between seasons can take a toll on your sense of style – the constant debate about wearing a jacket, the inconsistent weather, and the daily battle between boots and sandals.  Luckily, this season’s latest trends have made our transition into summer a little easier, and may include pieces already in your closet that can be worn throughout both seasons.  Read on to find the 4 pieces to help you transition from spring to summer!

Shirts with cutout and exposed shoulders are the perfect piece that can not only be worn throughout spring and summer, but are also perfect for the moderate season in between.  Pair long sleeve exposed-shoulder tops with jeans and flats for cooler days or shorts and a gladiator sandal in the warmer summer months.  The exposed shoulder trend gives a subtle sexiness to the basic cap sleeve while remaining classy.
Raw hem denim is another trend to look out for in the coming months; what started as a celebrity trend is quickly emerging to the masses.  The fray that takes the place of the sewn hem on these jeans (hence the name) is a detail that would be a sin to cover with boots, making it the perfect transitional piece between spring and summer.  This style is best paired with flats and sandals or dressed up with classic pumps, showing off the ankle, an underrated and slimming feature among all body types.

The leather jacket is a staple piece that belongs in every wardrobe.  This is a transitional piece for all seasons, but is often looked over as a summer garment.  A leather jacket adds the perfect amount of edge to nearly any outfit from jeans to shorts and even dresses.  Through the transitional period into summer, layer a leather jacket with a flowy tank for a feminine touch or a graphic tee to dress down your look.  Double up on trends and sport raw hem denim to complete your outfit!

It often seems like the most difficult garment to transition with from spring to summer is shoes.  We constantly struggle with it being too warm for boots and not quite warm enough for sandals.  This season I found that cutouts and partially enclosed shoes are the best transitional piece when it comes to footwear.  The lace-up shoe trend can be found in several different types of shoes and provide a bit more warmth than a sandal while still giving off a light, warm weather vibe.  Lace-up flats go great with jeans and shorts alike.  For a dressier look, lace-up open toe booties provide a smooth transition from spring to summer while staying on-trend.
