Will.i.am sees great value in the upcoming AFROTECH™ Conference.

The breeding ground for tech professionals who are looking to learn and be submerged in a collaborative atmosphere is making its way to Houston, TX, for the first time, and it will be held Nov. 13-16 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Among the panels announced, so far, is the Women’s Summit Stage, which will uplift women in their professional journeys. For the first time, the conference will also host the Health & Environmental Equity Summit in addition to the AI Stage.

It is the activations being held this year that have the interest of will.i.am as he sees various changemakers across the industry coming to the conference.

“Getting things off the ground and bringing people together, inspiring people to come, travel, and be a part of something and belong to something, that’s hard for anybody,” he told AFROTECH™ during Invest Festival 2024. “So to collaborate with the folks that were responsible for magnetizing, galvanizing, and curating events like AFROTECH™, it’d be great to collaborate and be of service and help take it even further.”

The conference will also further conversations around technology that aligns with will.i.am’s personal contributions to the tech industry, which includes his platform FYI (Focus Your Ideas) created alongside Sunil Reddy. As AFROTECH™ previously reported, FYI is an AI-driven collaboration platform for creators and provides them with support in storyboarding, messaging, and video calls as well as high-quality file sharing and scheduling.

“The selfish part is getting the folks that go to AFROTECH™ knowledgeable on our solutions and FYI, to utilize our products and services and features, and grow something massive together,” he noted. “It’s very rare that, especially in the AI space now, that we have 96% of people that come from the projects or from communities that reflect those types of conditions of living.”

He added, “We don’t build communication tools. And we need to let folks in the community know that, ‘Yo, we should be competing in this space.’ For every Amazon, there should be our version of that. For every WhatsApp, there should be our version of that… What we’re trying to do is inspire, mentor, and connect creative to strategy, connect creative to organization — to knowledge — connect creative to materialization with our tools and intent. And all the while, keep everybody’s data and assets safe with our elliptical curve cryptography methodologies.”
