A new powerhouse has joined forces with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech-infused golf league, TGL.
Shonda Rhimes revealed that she has become a part of the ownership group for the California-based Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), TGL’s first team.
“I’m beyond excited to announce my involvement as the newest owner of Los Angeles Golf Club, the inaugural team in the @tglgolf league,” Rhimes wrote in an Instagram post. “I can’t wait to bring my passion for golf to this incredible venture.”
She continued, “Joining this team is an honor and, as someone who believes in the power of storytelling and community, I’m eager to see how we can elevate the game together. Let’s tee off on this new journey. We are LAGC.”
The renowned TV producer and creator is now standing alongside fellow Los Angeles Golf Club owners Serena and Venus Williams, Alexis Ohanian Sr., and Antetokounmpo brothers Giannis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex.

I’m thrilled to announce my involvement with @tglgolf with the launch of @wearelagc – Los Angeles Golf Club,” Serena Williams shared on Instagram at the time of her ownership announcement in 2023. “An important part of the spirit and purpose of LA Golf Club is making golf our own, for everybody, and I couldn’t be more excited to shape the future of this sport with my family @alexisohanian @olympiaohanian and @venuswilliams.”
As previously shared by AFROTECH™, Williams and Ohanian’s daughters Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. and Adira River Ohanian are also owners of LAGC. The announcement made Adira the youngest owner of two professional sports teams. The title was previously held by Olympia, who made headlines after acquiring stake in women’s soccer team Angel City FC.
TMRW Sports is slated to launch TGL in January 2025. As AFROTECH™ previously told you, TGL will include 18 players, who will compete in a series of 18-hole matches. Moreover, three-man team competitions are held for two hours in a stadium setting.
