Kingston Lawrence has a brilliant mind!

KLFY-10 in Lafayette, LA, reports the 7-year-old is a child genius with an IQ between 145 and 150 as proof. The outlet also notes he was in the 99th percentile on an IQ test.

His parents, Deidra and Kala, are extremely proud.

“He’s always interested in learning new things and trying things. And so it’s just, it’s wonderful to see,” Deidra told KLFY-10.

Kala commented, “My initial reaction was very nervous. I was just like, ‘Oh my god, what is this? What do you do with that?’ I didn’t know it was that big of a deal. That his intellectual capabilities were that high, you know.”

Looking to nurture Kingston’s intelligence, his parents began to look for resources. In the process, they stumbled across Mensa, an organization founded in 1946 that has as one of its key purposes “to foster human intelligence for the benefit of humanity,” its website states. As AFROTECH previously mentioned, in order to join the Mensa community, an individual must score “within the upper 2% of the general population on an approved intelligence test.”

“I hope that he can connect with other kids that kind of have similar educational potential or intellectual potential, should I say, as him. And that he can find people that he has things in common with and continue to grow and develop. So I’m excited about it,” Deidra expressed, per KYFY-10.

Now being a part of the illustrious group, Kingston says he feels “really good” and expresses joy about joining the organization.

“I thought it was pretty nice because this is probably the first or second club I’ve ever got into,” explained Kingston, according to the outlet.

His interests include mathematics and robotics, and he hopes to become an architect in the future.

Kingston now joins a growing list of children to be in Mensa, including 6-year-old Chandler Hughes. As previously mentioned by AFROTECH, the Texas first grader became one of the youngest to be admitted into the club.
