Beyoncé is taking her talents to the spirits industry!
The “Cowboy Carter” songstress continues to defy industry standards while paying homage to her Southern roots. This time, she’s introducing her line of American whisky alongside Moët Hennessy, which falls under the French luxury goods giant LVMH. In a press release shared with AFROTECH™, the brand revealed that SirDavis has been in the making for years, offering an “unexpected take” on whisky through its “bespoke recipe,” unusual maturation process, and distinct taste profile, influenced by Japanese and Scottish styles.
Beyoncé debuted the beverage in a post shared to Instagram, with the comment “Davis in my bones” alongside emojis of whisky glasses. According to Forbes, the whisky industry is the same one that made her husband, Jay-Z, a billionaire. The Houston, TX, native may very well join the billionaire ranks herself with an estimated net worth of $760 million.
The first images of SirDavis show the beverage in a ribbed glass bottle with a custom leather case, per Forbes. The logo features a horse, and while it’s not Reneigh, the horse that first appeared on the cover of Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” album in 2022, the medallion on the bottle references her Texas roots and symbolizes both strength and respect. In true Beyoncé fashion, this product is an extension of her family’s Southern history as well, with her great-grandfather inspiring the new beverage.
“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” said Beyoncé, SirDavis’ founder, per the press release. “When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated. SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy. In partnering with Moët Hennessy, we have crafted a delicious American whisky that respects tradition but also empowers people to experience something new and unique in the category. You can taste it better than I could ever tell you — welcome, SirDavis.”
The whisky release follows Beyoncé’s foray into the haircare industry through Cécred, an award-winning haircare line launched alongside her mother, Tina Knowles, who previously owned a hair salon in their hometown of Houston. No stranger to tapping into her entrepreneurial bag, Beyoncé seems to be collecting infinity stones for the new spaces she continues to infiltrate.
From hair care and whisky to athleisure, perfume, and everything in between, the former Destiny’s Child member defies the odds as a businesswoman. As previously reported by AFROTECH™, when she launched Parkwood Entertainment in 2010, Beyoncé had goals of full ownership over her work.
“I started my own company, and my father taught me so, so much,” Beyoncé explained in a resurfaced clip shared on TikTok. “When I decided to manage myself, it was important that I didn’t go to some big management company. I felt like I wanted to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and be my own powerhouse and have my own empire and show other women; when you get to this point in your career, you don’t have to go sign with someone else and share your money and your success.”
