Jessica Taylor has landed her coffee product in a new major retailer.

As AFROTECH™ previously reported, Taylor, a former Toyota diversity, equity, and inclusion business partner, became the founder of Ezra Coffee in 2021. The idea for the company stemmed from a soy and nut allergy developed by her sister who was also lactose intolerant.

Taylor started conjuring recipes on a stove top, creating flavors that could be enjoyed without milk-based creamers. That passion and drive has now grown into an array of products sold through Ezra Coffee such as Candied Yams and Toasted Southern Pecan light roast coffee, as listed on its website.

Since launching, the company has secured placements in Target’s online store and was also stocked in more than 40 Texas-based H-E-B stores by October 2023.

“This has been such a labor of love and an amazing experience, and I can truly say I could have not done this with out you guys,” Taylor said of the business’ expansion into H-E-B stores. “Less than 1% of Black-owned brands secure retail distribution, and to have done this in 18 months is truly a testament to God’s favor.”

Fast forward to 2024, and Taylor has reached a new benchmark with Ezra Coffee landing in Central Market, she revealed on LinkedIn.

“We’re thrilled to announce that Ezra Coffee Company is expanding! You can now find our Toasted Southern Pecan and Lorde Baldwin (Kenyan AA- Dark Roast) blends at a Central Market near you,” she wrote on LinkedIn. “To our Ezra family and supporters, thank you for your continued support as we could not have done this without you! Here’s to new beginnings and more coffee adventures!”

What’s more, a win for the business is also a win for higher education. A portion of proceeds are allocated to support students pursuing four-year college degrees with bi-annual scholarships.

“From the very beginning, we set out to make Ezra Coffee a different kind of company, one that connects people, celebrates inclusion, supports education and community, and honors history,” a statement from the company’s LinkedIn reads.
