After His NFL Rookie Season, Jahmyr Gibbs’ Net Worth Is An Estimated $8 Million

The NFL has been through a lot of changes since being founded in 1920, from the number of teams in the league to the players hoping to bring home the coveted Super Bowl rings every year. As legends and hall of famers announce their retirement, the NFL continues to entertain and make room for new talent to shine, such as Jahmyr Gibbs. Born on Mar. 20, 2002, the Dalton, Georgia native was a force on the football field long before he was drafted in 2023.

As a high schooler, Gibbs rushed for 897 yards and ten touchdowns in his sophomore year; as a senior, the young athlete led the state with 2,554 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns. He’s constantly finding ways to improve his game, which is just part of what propelled him through his rookie year with the Detroit Lions. Read on to uncover more about Jahmyr Gibbs’ net worth and his biggest achievements so far.

As A High Schooler, Jahmyr Gibbs Had Multiple Offers To Play College Football

When scouts go to watch high school games, they aren’t always able to explain what they’re looking for in a player. Most times, technical skill isn’t enough (although it does help). Anyone being considered to play at the college level or professionally has a certain je ne sais quoi; an effortlessness in how they move around the field, ideally in flow with their teammates. Considering Gibbs was named a three-star recruit and had offers from more than one school by his junior year at Dalton High, it’s safe to say he has what coaches are looking for.

After turning down Michigan, Texas A&M and North Carolina, Gibbs committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2020. In the same year, he was named first team All-American by Sports Illustrated, Georgia 6-A Offensive Player of the Year and invited to play in the All-American Bowl. In his senior year, Gibbs didn’t start slacking just because he secured a scholarship. Instead, the 22-year-old continued to prove himself, earning more college ball offers from Florida, Georgia and Alabama after being re-rated as a four-star prospect.

In his first and only season at Georgia Tech, Jahmyr Gibbs finished with 89 carries for 460 yards and four touchdowns, 24 receptions for 303 yards and three touchdowns, and eight kickoff returns for 205 yards. Overall it was a successful year, but in 2022, the running back transferred to the University of Alabama to play for the Crimson Tide. There, he seemed more comfortable, finishing his second college season with 151 carries for 926 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns plus 44 receptions for 444 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Georgia Native’s 2023 Rookie Season Landed Him An Alternate Spot In The Pro Bowl

By 2023, Gibbs was feeling more confident than ever. He was selected by the Detroit Lions first round (12th overall pick) in the annual NFL Draft, debuting with the team at the Kickoff Game. His first NFL touchdown was during a 21-yard run in week seven; overall Gibbs played 15 games with three starts. He made 182 carries for 945 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns in that time, along with 52 receptions for 316 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Making it into the league was exciting enough, but in his first year, Gibbs was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and voted to the Pro Bowl as an alternate, adding to his ever-growing list of accolades.
