MACROSS 82-89
If you haven’t heard of it, you probably have heard of it, if you know what I mean. For the last few years, modern radio shifted gears regarding popular music within a variety of genres. More and more artists are turning toward the old riffs, wonky synths, and smooth ambient sounds of the day. A genre heavy on nostalgia is vaporwave. Think bright neon colors, hazy abstract album colors, and an electronic device on hand. Like many genres, new ones derive from it. Artist MACROSS 82-89 leans on a genre called future funk. Music is supposed to be fun, and with a track evoking sound from the late 70s & early 80s disco/funk, and a sample from Armenta’s “I Wanna Be With You (Part 1),” MACROSS adds modern effects and speed, elevating a very smooth dance hit and a promise for their lover to keep their BPM on ten.
Intro Track: “Fun Tonight”
New Listen: “Always Hong Kong”
May it be by streaming, purchasing, or simply visiting a show, there are plenty of ways to discover new independent artists providing creativity and style across any genre. Don’t fret over songs getting overplayed when you can create your own station commercial-free by simply choosing your picks and your tastes, 100% undefined.
