The Secret to Waking Up Feeling Refreshed

Waking Up Feeling Refreshed

There’s nothing better than crawling into bed at the end of a long day to get some much-needed shut-eye. Yet, it seems that in no time at all, the alarm clock is sounding and it’s time to do the daily grind all over again. If you’re someone that enjoys sleep and struggles to wake each morning, it may be time you considered new ways to help you feel fresher and energized to help you make the most of your day. In this guide, we’re going to list some of the key tactics to shake off the morning blues and get up, dressed, and set for the busy schedule that lies ahead.

Stop Hitting the Snooze Button

Are you guilty of constantly hitting the snooze button when your alarm goes off? While you may believe that those extra 10 minutes in bed are beneficial for your sleep, they could leave you feeling groggy for the rest of the day. This is because the regular wake-up alerts confuse your internal body clock as to when to arise, which in turn could negatively impact your sleep pattern. To break the habit, place your alarm clock away from your bed so that you have to get up to switch it off.

Drink a Cup of Espresso Each Morning

Drinking coffee is one of the most common morning habits across the globe – especially a shot of expresso. Espresso is brewed at a high temperature and has been scientifically proven to provide an energy boost and improve focus due to having a direct effect on our hormones. Additionally, it is a natural mood booster by connecting to the dopamine levels in the brain. Purchase an espresso machine so that you can reap the benefits of drinking an espresso shot each morning.

Get Up at the Same Time Each Day

Regardless of what time you went to bed, it is important to always get up at the same time each day – even on weekends. Our body requires consistency to keep our circadian rhythm in check so that it’s easier to fall asleep and wake up at the time you desire.  In turn, this should leave you feeling much more invigorated. It is recommended for adults to sleep for approximately 7-9 hours each night to enhance energy levels and keep their health and well-being in check. Therefore, you may find it useful to create a bedtime routine, so your body will provide you with the signs of when it requires rest.

Seek Natural Light Exposure

Once you have managed to roll out of bed, get out into the fresh air and soak up the natural light. After several hours of darkness, the body needs exposure to sunlight to regulate the circadian rhythm to help us feel more awake. While you may be rushing around before work, waking up just 20 minutes earlier for a casual walk around the block will reset your body clock and reduce fatigue, which should enable you to feel much more productive and energetic throughout the rest of the day.
