We kicked off the fashion frenzy month of February with the Ricardo Seco Fall/Winter 2016 “TIME” Presentation. Taking place at Skylight Clarkson North, the gloomy and rainy NYC night saw a ray of sunshine within the collection. The only Mexican designer featured during New York Fashion Week: Men’s (NYFWM), Seco paid homage to his roots through his display of vibrant pops of color amongst an overall black palette.
The collection featured fox fur collars and trims in flashy colors such as purple, blue, and orange, along with neutral colors such as black and tan. A few pieces included an embroidered patch of the speedy and rapid Looney Tunes cartoon character, Speedy Gonzales. Along with serapes, Seco also incorporated the color stripe pattern in hints of metallic fabric into belts, coats, jackets, and collars. One of the main focal, and political, points of the collection was a T-shirt featuring a serape donning Donald Trump with the words, “I’m Mexico. Who is Trump?” Each model’s outfit was completed with a white pair of New Balance trainers.
