The Must-Have Trends for the Upcoming Season

The Must-Have Trends for the Upcoming Season

As the new season approaches, the time to think about refreshing your wardrobe, beauty routine, and even your home decor is now. Whatever direction you decide to go with all of that, there are some items that you just cannot afford to leave out of your haul. From luxurious fabrics to nostalgic revivals, here are some things that you just have to include:

1. Retro

To start with, nostalgia is always a powerful force in fashion and this new season is no different. So, expect to see some retro-inspired outfits as spring rolls around, especially after what Kendrick Lamar wore at the Super Bowl.

We’re talking about vintage denim, platform shoes, and even vintage accessories like chunky gold chains and structured mini bags. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, consider adding some of these to your wardrobe right away.

2. Layered fabrics

Speaking of big events that shape the world of fashion, the Grammys red carpet might be pointing to a sheer and layered fabrics trend for the new season.

Translucent layers and airy fabrics are being reimagined for both day and night looks. So, if that’s something that you’re comfortable with, you should consider the many options available from delicate lace to sheer tulle and organza details. You could also infuse a bit of your creativity by layering different textures and fabrics.

3. Loungewear

If you’re looking for something more comfortable, you could look at the growing elevated loungewear trend. Since the pandemic hit, we’ve been looking for ways to be as comfortable as possible in our clothes, which saw a surge in people wearing loungewear.

This new trend, however, sees designers upgrade the loungewear look with luxurious fabrics and tailored fits. Think ribbed knit co-ords and stylish hooded capes. If you’ve been looking for a way to wear clothes that are elevated but with pyjamas level of comfort, this might be your season.

4. Velvet and knit accents

Bringing the season’s trends into your living space, textured fabrics like velvet and knit accents are a must if you want to be trendy. Plush throw blankets, woven rugs, and sculptural candles add warmth and dimension to any room. So, you should really consider those for the new season.

5. Skincare and makeup

Now, for beauty trends, more and more people will be going the skincare-first makeup route. So, improve your makeup skills if they need the upgrade. But more importantly, invest in your skincare. Maybe even aiming for the dewy glass-like skin, as that looks to be the trend for spring.

One last thing. Fashion is getting a lot more environment-conscious, thankfully. And brands – at least some of them – are prioritizing ethical production, recycled materials, and slow fashion. This might be a good thing to consider as we approach the new season; patronizing brands that are eco-conscious.

At the end of the day, though, fashion is about wearing and using what you love and what allows you to express your creative self. But there’s nothing that says you can’t do things while keeping up with the trends of the season.
