Yael Groblas/Petray by Michelle Rene Elam
Elam describes Groblas’s character as “very kept, represents money and all that it can buy, even though this is not always the whole truth (stay tuned for some upcoming flashbacks.” Despite the fact that her hair is what Elam defines as “tender,” thanks to Petray keeping her hair healthy and happy, it makes Elam’s job much easier. To keep Groblas’s ends repaired, Elam uses Living Proof Restore Target Repair cream and then, like Rodriguez’s character, Elam sprays Yael’s hair with White Sands Liquid Texture Firm Thermal Styling Spray. This heat protectant protects while also smoothing out the tresses during the blowout, which includes a T3 anti-gravity 2.5” Barrel Ceramic Brush that Elam uses to create an even volume.
“Her style is a specific mix of noir 1920’s and 21st-century mod glam,” said Elam. “To create this style and help last all day, I set her using a ¾ – 1” marcel iron, angling it at 2:00/7:00 all the way around.”
The flowing shape is maintained by a big bone comb and a Mason Pearson brush. On humid days during outdoor scenes, Elam uses the brand Oribe once more but keeps in hand Oribe’s Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray, or she throws on a rain cap – if there’s ever any heavy fog. Elam seems to enjoy the flashbacks most for Yael’s hair styling.
“Her flashbacks are fun as she gets to sport more natural shapes; tt’s longer and playful,” said Elam. “We add real hair extensions or a halo design extension piece to help create these looks.”
