Colorblocking has been popular for quite some time in the fashion world, involving the layering of complimentary colors. The color-on-color play is taking a step back though, allowing a new breath of fresh air to move through. The white-on-white trend…
Ahhhhhh. The sweet sounds and smells of spring: birds chirping, the buzz of lawnmowers, the smell of freshly cut grass, and the fragrance of blooming flowers. It’s as if the world is suddenly reborn, as we eagerly emerge from our seasonal hibernation. This past winter, at least for us New Yorkers, has been a long and painful one. We have The Polar Vortex to thanks for the harshest winter in years, with record low temps and towering snow drifts that still line the streets days after the official arrival of spring. Not to mention the frigid weather has really done wonders for my already dry, flaky skin. Sarcasm and complaints aside, I’m looking ahead and looking forward to spring. It’s my absolute favorite time for amping up my beauty regime. Kickstarting your beauty rebirth is a great way to banish your remaining winter blues for good. Below are my favorite beauty-inspired, spring awakenings that are sure to please and get you ready for the welcomed change in seasons. Warmer, sunnier days are on the way, I promise! Stay fabulous always. XOXO, Elizabeth A Fresh Floral Scent Nothing says spring like a fresh flowery scent. My choice for this season? Kate Spade’s Live Colorfully Eau de Parfum ($75-95, Nordstrom). It’s everything a spring scent should be: bright and floral with hints of sparkly mandarin and pink water lily, not to mention a touch of golden gardenia and Tahitian vanilla. Pastel Nails Don’t get me wrong, I love rocking dark hues on my nails all winter long, but there’s something so exciting about having the excuse to play with lighter, pastel shades once spring has arrived. This year, think subtle, Easter Egg-inspired mani/pedis. As usual, my go-to is Essie, with their Spring 2014 collection featuring shades like Fashion Playground (think pastel pistachio) and Romper Room (a pale tea rose). At $8.50 each, these hues are sure to please all season long. Playful Pink Lips Goodbye holiday reds, and hello pouty pink! Spring is the season to sport kissably soft, perfectly pink lips. My color of choice this spring? It’s no other than the Rose Lily sheer pastel pink lipstick ($15) from MAC Cosmetics’ A Fantasy of Flower’s Collection. If pastel pink doesn’t suit you, there are a bunch of playful colors to choose from in this collection, including berry, coral, and peach shades that are sure to do the trick. A…
